Loot Crate Anniversay

Happy Christmas if that is what you celebrate!  Loot Crate came in the post today!  Let's see what the ANNIVERSARY crate is all about.

Loot Crate Magazine and button: Showcases artwork from Josh Mirman, an interview with Stan Lee and the items in this month's crate.  The button is a simple gold-ish colour that says ANNIVERSARY.

Exclusive Batman Comic Book Issue 36: Batman!  To celebrate 75 years of Batman, the issue 36 Endgame comic is included in this month's crate.  Talk about badass.

Exclusive The Joker Batman-Batman Pop! Vinyl Figure: Batman!  My favourite super hero since I was a wee one.  The mash-up Joker/Batman is a fantastic addition to my ever-growing Batman collection.

Simpsons Cast Mighty Wallet: What the hell is a mighty wallet?  LC magazine claims it's a lightweight, water and tear resistant wallet.  That's pretty neat.  Not sure if I will use this or keep it with the other Simpsons collectibles I have.

It feels thin and I can't tear it in half so it passes on that.  The wallet is adorned with the numerous Simpsons characters I've grown to cherish over the past 25 years.

Exclusive Ghostbusters Door Hanger:  He slimed me!  A glossy cardstock door hanger.  The Ghostbusters celebrate 30 years of not being afraid of ghosts.  The design is cool but I'm not a big GB fan.  Likewise, I wouldn't use this although it is a nice addition to the crate.

Tetris Sticker Set: It was 30 years ago that Tetris burst onto the video game scene and has been a classic ever since.  I have fond memories of level after level of colour busting fun.  These appear to be glossy epoxy stickers (meaning they won't chip as easily as paper stickers).  There are 147 in this pack.  I should be able to think of a creative way to display these.

Exclusive Dancing Groot Crew Socks: To celebrate Marvel's 75th anniversary are these dancing baby Groot socks.  They are fine as far as socks go but these are not for me.  My housemate has claimed them.

Captain America Air Freshner: In honour of Marvel's 75th anniversary, a Captain America air freshener is in the crate.  Air fresheners are not my thing and I especially loathe the smell of vanilla.  It is fairly strong as I can smell it through the plastic.  Perhaps I can slip this into someone's stocking?

Final Verdict

Excellent mix of anniversary items.  A few items I wasn't crazy about but that doesn't mean someone else doesn't appreciate them.

Loot Crate Battle

Loot Crate has arrived in the post today!  This month's theme is BATTLE.  My housemates and I made guesses to what type of items will be in the crate, if they are right (in theory) they can keep the item.  Eiren said Street Fighter, Kieran said Autobots and Katie said Mega Man.  I drank some wine instead of wagering a guess.

Lewt Time!

The Loot Crate Magazine I've learned it comes with every crate.  Background reading material about the items in the crate.  At the back of the mag, there are Ryu and Mega Man punch outs.  They are pretty much mini-paper dolls.  To note, I do not like this face given to Mega Man.  He looks like something out of an Archie Comic and I don't like that.  That being said, I will more than likely find some use for these.

I forgot to mention this in my previous crate post, every month there is a button that comes in every crate.  I have to get this out of the way now, I am not a fan of buttons.  I feel they are 1980's flair and honestly I have no purpose for them.  Some people like them, they are just not for me.  In any event, this month features Ryu and weird face Mega Man.

Street Fighter Headband: Point goes to Eiren for guessing there would be a Street Fighter in this crate.  The headband is made of thin, lightweight fabric that is easy to tie around a person's head or any other appendage.  I got to wear this once to do the laundry, after that Eiren has had it hidden away in his den. I found it!

HALO Drop Ship Mini Figure: Ah the memories of the countless hours lost playing Halo.  These are the Metallic version that comes with a figure and a not-a-Lego stand with the iconic Halo painted on the brick .  It comes in a grenade pod which is slightly amusing to toss at people.  I have this particular one so I won't be opening it.

Mega Man Mini Helmet (1 of 4 colours):  Even though Katie guessed correctly, I trumped her and am keeping this-she can go cry in a corner for all I care.  Mega Man is one of my all-time favourite games.  There are four colours (classic blue, red, grey or green) and I got the grey one.  The helmet is heavy and fits on the stand nicely.  It will look great standing with my other Mega Man items.

Assassin's Creed IV Unity Coin with Velvet Pouch: Admittingly I am not a big Assassin's Creed fan.  I played very little of the first one and wasn't too keen to the others.  This a heavy double-sided coin that is detailed and nice to look at.  I don't have many collector coins so I'm on the fence with keeping this or not.

Pirates vs. Ninja Shirt:  Very cool design.  Katie is a huge pirate fan so this tee will be hers.  Have pirates and ninjas battled at all, ever?

Final Verdict

Not quite sure the theme and the items matched up.  The Mega Man helmet is my favourite thing from this crate, hands down.  The items were not bad this month, just not my favourites.

Loot Crate Fear

This is my first subscription box.  Much excite!  This month the theme is FEAR and I couldn't be happier about that (being a huge horror fan).

Lewt time!

Smite Gift Card (Jack the Reaper Skin):  Online game code for Smite (in-game skin).  Free codes for in-game items is actually awesome.  Sometimes items like this fetch a hefty price-tag.  My housemate begged to have this, so away it went.

Lootcrate Magazine and cardstock 3D glasses:  My housemates and I were just talking about 3D glasses.  Strange how that works out sometimes.  The front and back covers as well as two pages inside the mag are 3D.  Kind of neat but 3D glasses of any kind give me a terrible eye ache but they are still a nice addition.  One of my housemates has claimed them for 'reasons' and I don't intend to argue about it.

Time to get spooky

Slashes & Bites Tattoos:  Considering the time of the year, I reckon these fit the bill for the FEAR theme.  These are not my cup of tea as I have no real use for them.

Zombie mouth looks gnarly

The Walking Dead (Issue 132): Huge comic book fangirl right here and The Walking Dead fan to boot!  It came single-layer plastic wrapped to which I happily gnawed through to read the comic.  Neat addition to the crate.

"Oh Brother" Art Print:  I actually like this print, a lot.  It is a (10.16cm x 15.24 cm, 4 in x 6 in) printed on glossy stock paper.  I am in the process of relocating and boxing things up so unfortunately I won't have any where to display this for a while.  Definitely going up on a wall!

Sad Daryl is sad

How to Survive A Sharknado (guide book):  This book is actually awesome!  If you enjoyed and read '5 Very Good Reasons to Punch a Dolphin in the Mouth (and other useful guides)' this book is along the same vein.  I happen to be a Sharknado fan so I was instantly drawn to it.  It makes for a great read.

Official Guide to Staying Alive

Sledgesaw Hammer Pen: Dead Rising collectibles are bad ass.  Too bad I'm the worst type of collector that has to take everything out of its package and monkey around with them.  Otherwise what is the point of having cool toys?  I think it will look great on my desk.

EDIT: My housemate Eiren has decided to use it as a window prop and it is slightly bent now :(

Toxic Candy Waste: Sour fizzing candies.  I am a fan of the fizzers but wasn't in the mood for candy.  Fed them to Eiren instead.

Death by Kitten Tee: Very cool tee indeed.  Since it has kittens, my housemates wouldn't dare touch it (kitten envy).  I foresee this being a tee I wear quite often.

cute but deadly

Final Verdict

This crate was a hit.  With exception to the tattoos, I really liked the selection Lootcrate offered and can't wait for the next one!

Mystery Box Obsession

The allure of a mystery box is just that; a mystery.  What goodies (or train wrecks) await as you patiently wait for your box in the post.  The excitement of eagerly tearing into the cardboard mailer to see what treasures (or blunders) await.

I've had my fair share of hits and misses when it comes to monthly sub boxes.  All of my [mis]adventures will be documented here for others to laugh at or rage about.  The whole purpose is to share my experiences and spread the joy of geeky goodness.
